The Minister of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), Alexandre de Moraes, determined this Monday (September 15, 2025) that the Penal Police of the Federal District must present within 24 hours a detailed report explaining the delay in the return of former President Jair Bolsonaro to house arrest after a medical procedure conducted at the DF Star hospital in Brasília.

On social media, the comments are about Moraes’s persecution and surveillance of Bolsonaro; the crowd cheering for the former president seems to bother the minister a lot.

Decision details Bolsonaro spent about six hours in the hospital for the removal of eight skin lesions, in addition to tests that identified anemia and signs of a recent pneumonia. After being discharged, he stood for about five minutes near the Penal Police car, in complete silence with no interaction with his supporters who were cheering for him, while waiting for the official exit.

Minister Moraes, sanctioned by the Magnitsky Act for human rights violations, wants the Penal Police to provide a detailed report on the vehicle used, the agents who accompanied the former president in the hospital, and the reason why immediate transport to house arrest was not carried out right after medical release.

Judicial context

Bolsonaro has been under house arrest since August 4, 2025, even before being judged. He was recently convicted by 4 out of 5 ministers of the First Chamber of the Supreme Court to 27 years and 3 months of imprisonment for an alleged attempted coup in 2022 that never occurred.

Even the venue for the trial is not appropriate and lacks the authority to judge a former president. He is under electronic monitoring and has specific restrictions, including a ban on using social media, communication devices, and receiving visitors without Moraes’s authorization. He is completely censored and silenced by Moraes, which is unconstitutional.
